Your role

As Farm Manager, you’re accountable for the farm’s operational, people and financial performance. You implement short- and long-term business plans, translate the Group strategy into clear targets for your Heads of Department, and continuously optimise productivity, quality and cost — strengthening Bondeni Machame as a high-performing unit within the wider Bondeni Flowers Limited portfolio.

What you will do

  • Lead, coach and develop the management team and wider workforce in a labour-intensive operation.
  • Deliver the crop plan: strong production, consistent quality and smooth planning from field to dispatch.
  • Strengthen planning and coordination with commercial/market requirements to improve delivery reliability (on time, in full, error-free).
  • Oversee on-farm product development: make sure variety and improvement trials run smoothly, with the right planning, resources and follow-up. Always in collaboration with the Product Development team and breeders.
  • Drive continuous improvement (Kaizen mindset): productivity per m², trials, smarter processes and cost control.
  • Strengthen sustainable growing practices, including disciplined irrigation/fertigation routines and integrated pest management (IPM).
  • Manage the business side with grip: budgets, monthly reporting, asset care, stock control and operational compliance.
  • Embed strong people practice: clear roles, performance reviews, training and a fair, consistent approach to labour relations and safety.

What you bring

  • HBO/BSc in Horticulture, Agronomy, Agriculture (MBA is a plus)
  • Significant experience in horticulture, including farm management (Africa experience is a strong advantage)
  • A calm, clear leader who empowers, sets expectations and follows through
  • Strong planning and analytical skills — you spot issues early and turn them into action
  • Commercial awareness: comfortable working with targets, budgets and KPIs
  • Strong MS Office skills (especially Excel)
  • Languages: Dutch-speaking is strongly preferred; English is essential. Swahili is a plus — or you’re committed to learning
