The butterfly effect

Gábor Nagy: “The bouquet base is crafted from wire and wrapped in paper, with holographic butterflies affixed to the wire ends. Their iridescent tones complement the vivid colours of the flowers, creating a playful interplay of hues. Thanks to the base's lightness, I was able to arrange the botanical materials in a loose, airy spiral. This allowed each bloom the opportunity to showcase its individual form and character. The wire structure also proved useful in repositioning the flowers precisely after placement.”

The botanical

Gábor Nagy: “For this bouquet, I aimed to construct a base entirely from botanical materials, which led me to choose Limonium. Its longevity without water made it ideal for crafting into garlands, which I then secured onto a simple wire framework. The garlands flow from the bottom to the top of the structure, with the densest concentration at the base, gradually thinning towards the top. I arranged the flowers in a spiral, filling the inner space of the frame, with just a few extending slightly beyond it. The darker-toned flowers were placed nearer the base and centre, while lighter hues were positioned towards the top and sides. The natural movement of the Clematis harmonised beautifully with the other flowers, enhancing the bouquet’s light and airy character.”

Gábor Nagy: “Black diffuser sticks are glued onto the surface of the wire base I had constructed, leaving enough space between them to accommodate the flower heads. The overall movement of the bouquet is upward, but to soften this direction slightly, I incorporated a few dried vines. The dark base paired beautifully with the purple and blue tones, which inspired my choice of blooms: striking Delphinium, Scabiosa, Aster, Clematis and Eryngium. The flowers were arranged in parallel to the base, enhancing the clean, structured look while maintaining a refined elegance.”

The honeycomb

Gábor Nagy: “Honeycomb paper, often used for packaging, can also serve as a decorative element in bouquet construction. In this design, I created an elongated bouquet frame from wire and incorporated honeycomb paper, specifically the type used for bottle protection. I then arranged the flowers in a spiral, nestling them between the paper’s layers. Ammi and Solidago were placed nearer the handle, while the elegant white Clematis was arranged above and in slightly elevated positions. To lighten the composition’s appearance, I added Clematis 'Kibo' and Chasmanthium, softening the overall surface.”
