Shine bright with stunning bridal flowers - Part 2
Spectacular wedding blooms by Hanneke Frankema and Max van de Sluis
Back to storiesWedding trends in full bloom
In Part 1 of 'The art of wedding flowers', floral designers Hanneke Frankema and Max van de Sluis showed how understated flowers, innovative techniques and classic elegance can make a powerful bridal statement. Hanneke also demonstrated how to create a miniature version of the bridal bouquet for a flower girl, a charming touch.
In this second instalment, we’re heading in a different direction: colour explosions, trendy tones and bridal bouquets with a natural, organic flair. Perfect for florists looking to stay ahead of the latest bridal trends!

The ring pillow
With this enchanting design, Hanneke Frankema shows how floral work can be woven into every detail of a wedding. Even the moment the rings are exchanged becomes extra special thanks to this delicate floral heart. The rings can be gently placed on it, and after the ceremony it transforms into an elegant eye-catcher for the reception.
Hanneke chose a romantic colour palette in soft tones, featuring Scabiosa Bon Bon Scoop™ French Vanilla, Clematis Amazing® Kansas, Clematis Amazing® Kibo, Polianthes Elle Pink and Gypsophila Xlence®. A heartfelt detail that allows you, as a florist, to surprise both the couple and their guests!

Yellow as a trend colour
Yellow is one of the standout trend colours of the moment, both in fashion and floral design. It symbolises optimism, light and vitality, making it the perfect choice for a joyful wedding celebration. Both Hanneke Frankema and Max van de Sluis created yellow bridal bouquets, each with their own unique approach.

Hanneke designed a striking heart-shaped bouquet. The base covered with Craspedia Paintball™ Pop is incredibly long-lasting and provides solid support for the Gloriosa Superba Simba Fifty Shades. She placed the large open blooms at the top of the design, with the closed buds towards the bottom. This arrangement radiates both strength and elegance, and the heart shape serves as a beautiful ode to true love.

Max opted for a disc-shaped bouquet, composed of a mix of yellow blooms: Craspedia Paintball™ Pop, Limonium China Summer, Alstroemeria and Narcissus. Accents of white Astrantia Billion Star® and soft orange Kalanchoe add gentle variations in colour and texture, bringing depth and dimension to the design.
All-out with colour
For brides who truly want to make a statement, Hanneke designed two round bouquets that are true showstoppers, with sparkling embellishments, decorative accents and bold colours. These bouquets catch the light beautifully, ideal for a grand entrance. The bride, literally and figuratively, shines bright with these stunning designs.

The first bouquet features a warm colour palette with Gloriosa Superba Simba Fifty Shades, Clematis Amazing® Sevilla, Hypericum Tomato Flair® and luxurious orchids. The flowers are arranged on an open, circular frame made of gold-coloured wire, which adds both structure and elegance. The golden hue is echoed in the shimmering floral decorations woven throughout the bouquet.

The second bouquet is composed of cool tones, which contrast beautifully with the fiery red-orange Gloriosa. With Clematis Amazing® Tokyo, dried Clematis Amazing® Kibo, Scabiosa and pink orchids, the bouquet bursts with colour and detail. Finishing touches like transparent accents, mirrored beads and purple highlights give it a fairytale-like quality.
Botanical beauty
Max van de Sluis is known for his love of natural elements, and that passion is evident in two cascading bridal designs that feel as though they’ve been plucked straight from a botanical paradise. Perfect for couples with a deep love for nature!
In the first design, Max used a fine wire frame that gradually widens towards the bottom. He wove in a multitude of stems horizontally and diagonally, including Chasmanthium Latifolium ‘Mantis’, Talinum 'Long John', Astrantia Roma®, and soft pink Clematis Amazing® Kyiv. The loosely arranged stems and the addition of grasses give the bouquet an effortlessly natural look.

The second cascading bouquet, in shades of blue and purple, showcases Clematis Amazing® Sofia, the newest addition to the Clematis Amazing® family. Max paired this strong variety with Eryngium Sirius Questar®, Limonium Skylight, and pale blue Muscari (grape hyacinths). The bride holds the bouquet by two Kalanchoe leaves, as though she has just stepped out of a botanical garden.
